1 Introductions, apologies and substitutions
The Chair welcomed Committee members. There were apologies from Lynne Neagle, there was no substitute.
2 Ministerial Scrutiny Session: Deputy Minister for Tackling Poverty
The Committee took evidence from the Deputy Minister. He agreed to provide a note on the following:
Flying Start
the work carried out by Professor Edward Melhuish;
the implementation, process and role of Account Managers;
the number (and percentage of the total numbers of Flying Start beneficiaries) of children benefitting from each of the four elements of the programme;
any other
information on the double counting of children within the total
number of children benefitting from Flying Start.
Families First
The specific outcomes for children and families that the Families First evaluation process will measure;
When the first set of data which measures evidence in progressing these outcomes will be published.
Play
The collaboration between primary and secondary schools for play based facilities.
The Committee agreed to send the questions that were not asked for a written response.
3 Consideration of Committee Forward Work Programme
The Committee discussed the forward work programme.
4 Inquiry into Childhood Obesity - Consideration of Draft Report
The Committee considered the draft report. This will be considered again at the meeting on 5 March.
